12 Minute Abs, Legs & Upper Body Workout
Difficulty: 2 out of 5
Equipment Needed: No Equipment Needed
Workout Type: Cardiovascular and Toning
Welcome to Free Fitness Gym,
Many people think that the best way to get their Cardio fix is to use the machines in a gym, something that the personal training world does not always agree with. There is a place in every training regime for cardio machines and many people enjoy them. However the machines force a person to work in a particular manner and manipulate the way your body will moves during the exercise for example with Elliptical Trainer machines. This is nowadays seen as a very non functional way to train because the body is not worked in a way that allows the muscles and joints to move through different ranges, and natural ranges. Plus these movements will do little to help the body with every day movements and general day to day living.
It is far better to vary the way you exercise every session and to use a circuit training style of training. Not only will this type of training allow you to get your cardio fix in but it will also tone muscle groups and teach the body to deal with its own body weight and work the joints through a natural range of movement. You will burn more calories if you keep testing and pushing your body, than staying on an Elliptical trainer for an hour.
It is very common for people to zone out on cardio machines and to read a book or watch tv whilst working at a gentle pace, Form is often lost and the body is just keeping up with the machine but not working in a particularly practical manner. It is also common to see people working on these machines without even breaking into a sweat or raising heart rates. There is nothing wrong with this type of training if it is what you enjoy, but if you want to see some real benefits from your training and get that million dollar feeling after a great workout, then try and vary your training and stay off the machines as much as possible. There are hundreds of ways to exercise without using a machine plus you do not need to pay for gym membership if you no longer need cardio machines. It really is a win win situation. No gym fees and your body will be functionally fitter and stronger than it ever has been.
